Menu Carefully crafted by Plataran Indonesia’s team of culinary experts, Hutan Kota by Plataran provides menus to suit every occasion. For corporate events, weddings and private gatherings, each venue can offer a choice and combination of buffet, food stalls, high tea and free flow soft drink and alcohol packages. The food menu serves up a wide array of classic Indonesian, Asian and western fare, providing a flavour of the archipelago with an international twist. Ayam Celengan Found in homes throughout the archipelago, Ayam Celengan – an Indonesian equivalent of the piggy bank – conjures up childhood memories of saving, waiting and wishing. In our younger years, we would patiently store up coins and notes in these ornate china chickens, dreaming of ways to spend our precious nest egg. It taught us that good things come to those who our signature Ayam Celengan dish is the embodiment of this idea. Slow-cooked chicken is lovingly marinated in fresh garden herbs, then roasted and served with healthy vegetables; a hearty and homely dish, taking you back to Ibu’s kitchen in years gone by. Like the eponymous piggy bank, this dish is well worth waiting for; a treat to savor. Ayam Meriam Sundut Mixing the richness of the ocean with the simple, earthy goodness of a traditional chicken recipe, Ayam Meriam Sundut encapsulates the variety of flavors and ingredients on offer in Indonesia. This finely balanced, intriguing dish also has a tale to tell. The Betawi cuisine of West Java is imbued with generations of expertise, combining flavorful ingredients with innovative methods and even a sprinkling of like canons, these cylindrical fingers of meat pay homage to childhood memories of bamboo firecrackers, colonial artillery and the equally explosive taste sensation of mother’s home cooking. Our modern take on this historic staple blends chicken, cuttlefish, corn and kaffir lime leaves, to create a dish that’s rich in history, packed with flavor and perfect for sharing. Ayam Hutan Kota Hutan Kota by Plataran is our newest dining venue; a site that combines Indonesia’s history with a celebration of its natural wonders. This leafy oasis in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Park GBK offers a breath of fresh air in the heart of the city, reconnecting the capital and its residents with their natural heritage. Ayam Hutan Kota provides a taste of rural tradition, tucked away between the trees and the city skyscrapers. Blending succulent roasted chicken with tangy pickles, garlic, herbs and spices, this signature dish combines the hearty soul food of a traditional kampong with the classy ambiance of one of Jakarta’s finest dining establishments. Like the venue itself, the recipe blends timeless culinary heritage with modern refinement and a deeply rooted love of Indonesian cuisine.| Τоси ቄωճոηዶдኬշ дիζ | Բитр ጬοнусоይы уфемቺትθዴθ |

Level Contributor 15 posts 1 review Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago We are looking for nice dinner out with good atmosphere and good food. These 4 were recommended, but I was wondering if anybody knows if they have menus in English? Just a little nervous that if we get off the beaten path we will have trouble communicating. While I understand many people speak English, I don't want to assume everybody does. This forum was a great help last time so I thought I'd try again. Le Chardenoux, 1 rue Jules Vallés - This is our 1 pick Chez les Anges, 54 boulevard de la Tour Maubourg Pirouette, 5 rue Mondétour Frederic Simonin, 25 rue Bayen Level Contributor 13,064 posts 10 reviews 4 helpful votes 1. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago I can't answer your question specifically, but I might suggest you bring a menu translator with you. They come in small booklets you can carry with you or online, if you're a lot more technologically advanced than I am. Edit Generally, I've found that restaurants in the single digit arrondissements will have English menus, simply because they're frequented by so many tourists. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago Having a menu in English doesn't necessarily make it easier to communicate. Yes, it may be easier for you to read the menu, but there's no guarantee that your waiter will speak English, or that the translation will be accurate. Sometimes I do not understand the translation, but am familiar with the dish as it's written in French. I agree with HappyGoin about being prepared with a menu translator. There's a good one on Patricia Wells' website, or her app The Food Lover's Guide to Paris. Edited 9 years ago Level Contributor 69 posts 124 reviews 62 helpful votes 3. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago Maybe you should take some time to learn basic French since you will be in France, many people don't speak English. It will also make your trip more enjoyable. Level Contributor 14,097 posts 2 reviews 6 helpful votes 4. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago If a place has menus in English, you probably don't want to eat there. Same if it has pictures of the food. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago hi There are a lot of place with english menus there are a lot of waiters speaking english well enough Some basic preparation is indeed helpful boeuf = beef, poulet = chicken etc can help, fish is more comlicated we use 365 different names for fishes, I don't understand half of them myself. if in doubt, check on your smartphone with google translator. Works fine. If not just pick your choice and discover - Level Contributor 7,093 posts 160 reviews 144 helpful votes 7. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago As everyone said - having a menu in English is not necessarily a good thing as it means the place caters to tourists, not locals. Also the translations may be wrong. I have seen a fish dish on a menu where the English translation mentioned a poached roofing tile. Get a small booklet Level Contributor 16,505 posts 113 reviews 54 helpful votes 8. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago Le Chardenoux is probably our favourite restaurant. Good choice! If you look at restaurants' websites, they will often have a translation of their menus. Le Chardenoux has an English language option at the bottom of their home page, on the left. Level Contributor 13,064 posts 10 reviews 4 helpful votes 9. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago That's true, Peri, but the OP should bear in mind that the actual menu may be changed from what's posted on line. It's sometimes only a suggestion of the kind of dishes a restaurant serves. Level Contributor 16,047 posts 19 reviews 47 helpful votes 10. Re Restaurants and english menus 9 years ago I'm intrigued as to how many of the locals go along with the 'never choose from a translated menu ' theory. It feels both outdated and snobbish to me. I have had excellent meals in France in places where the menu was translated and poor ones where it wasn't. Of course there are some horrid tourist restaurants but I'm not sure that the language is a reliable indicator. Outside Paris I have been to charming family run restaurants where the owners have proudly told me that their son/ daughter is learning English at school and had translated the menu. I'd have missed out on several excellent meals if I had taken the advice here.
